Children in Need 2008
So after much preparation, Children in Need day at EWA finally arrived and what a resounding success it turned out to be. It started with employees being charged to enter the car park by 5 ‘mad’ monks and this just proved to be one of many surreal sightings throughout the day.
The event that had received the most interest leading up to CIN day was the sponsored bike ride; an exercise bike had kindly been loaned by Virgin Active Chelmsford and the challenge was to complete 100 miles within 7 hours. Over the course of the day 33 EWA employees took their turns to pedal their way to the target. In the end the target was achieved with relative ease and the final distance stood at an excellent 155 miles, each person who took part should be proud of their achievement.
The annual EWA CIN auction again proved to be particularly popular with a varied range of lots on offer some of which received more interest than others, notably the tickets for Chelsea FC complete with full hospitality kindly made available by adidas.
Each department hosted their own array of events; Christmas arrived early in the Telemarketing department where for a small donation you could hear renditions of your favourite carols and visit Santa’s grotto, various quizzes, games and competitions were also held throughout the day. Indeed at times it was hard to keep a track of all the events that were taking place
After everything was over the monies were collected and totalled, with the final sum raised on the day itself standing at an impressive £4,200 which was then supplemented with a further £1,500 donation from EWA. This remarkable total was due in part to the generosity of EWA’s staff but also donations and support from clients, suppliers, friends and family for which EWA would like to say a huge thank you.
EWA is extremely proud of supporting such an important charity that aims to positively change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. In the 16 years EWA has supported Children in Need, the company has raised over £87,000. EWA intends to continue this support over the coming years and already plans are afoot to make next years CIN day even better.
