Helping the NHS Achieve Their Targets

EWA has recently launched a specific service aimed at helping NHS trusts to reduce their patient 'Did Not Attend' rates.

“Patient 'Did Not Attends' have an enormous impact on the NHS in terms of cost, waiting times, efficiency and productivity” commented Kevin Seaman, Business Development Manager at EWA. “Following a successful trial we conducted on behalf of our local NHS Trust, we have decided to package our services and offer our expertise in contact management to the wider NHS community.”

The trial referred to by Kevin was conducted for a Primary Care Trust that was aiming to significantly reduce its DNA rates. Over a two week period, 460 patients were contacted by telephone to remind them of their scheduled appointment. This proved to be effective with a successful patient contact rate of over 70% and a reduction in the DNA rate of 17%. As a result, the trial alone was estimated to have saved the Trust £11,000 in just two weeks. In addition to the financial aspect, the Trust also received some extremely positive feedback from patients with many welcoming the call to remind them of their appointments.

EWA strongly believes that simple but effective patient contact management is the key to improving operational efficiency for NHS Trusts as well as bringing significant financial savings and perhaps above all, better patient relations.

To help other trusts work out the potential savings, EWA have developed a quick and easy to use DNA Cost Saving Calculator to show the monthly savings that can be achieved from reducing DNA rates by as little as 10%.

Kevin commented finally “Looking to the future and given the current economic climate, businesses both in the public and private sector will increasingly be looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and save money. Hopefully, through our customer relationship management services, EWA can go a long way to helping organisations achieve both”.
